• siteground installed this plugin plugin automatically when 7.0 rolled out, without my consent. That’s a huge security issue and I’ll be moving hosts.

  • Hello @maartenbelmans,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback regarding the recent updates.

To provide some context, the recent major release of WordPress 7.0 introduced native AI capabilities directly into the core platform. In anticipation of this change, we reached out to all of our WordPress customers via email to announce the pre-installation of our SiteGround AI Agent plugin. This was designed to serve as a seamless, ready-to-use connector between your website and our SiteGround AI Studio service, allowing you to utilize these new core features right out of the box without manual setup. To help our users test the functionality, we also included 20,000 complimentary tokens.

I would also like to mention that using this plugin is entirely optional. If the tool does not align with your current needs, you are completely free to deactivate and uninstall it at any time.

    Best regards,
    Daniela Ivanova

I didn’t see this email, probably because it was a marketing email.

Auto-installing plugins is never okay, imo, unless it’s to mitigate serious security issues or urgent bugs.
What if I rarely log into the admin and your auto installed plugin contains a security issue? I’d never even know until my site gets hacked.

Please rest assured that I will make sure to pass your feedback directly to our plugin developers.

In the meantime, if you have already deactivated and removed the plugin, it will not be reinstalled automatically.

    Best Regards,
    Daniela Ivanova
