• I’m looking for a plugin that allows for an approval workflow of submitted forms from the frontend. In my particular case, we’re a church that is looking to allow our people to submit proposals for classes they want to teach, and we want to establish a workflow for reviewing and approving the proposals.

Formstack looks like a great option, but it’s also way out of our price range. I’m not opposed to paying for a plugin if it does what I want, but I can’t justify $75/month for the volume we’ll likely receive at least for the foreseeable future.

Also worth mentioning, I’m not wedded to doing this through a plugin, so if anyone knows of a standalone service that would do the job I’m all for it.

  • Have you tried out Oasis Workflow plugin for your editorial workflow requirements? I’m the developer for Oasis Workflow plugin and I created the plugin with the intention to automate the editorial review workflow in wordpress.

The “Pro” version comes with a lot of neat features like multiple workflows, support for document revisions, teams etc, but I will let you explore the free version before jumping on to the “Pro” version.

Nuggetsol, I’ve looked at it but it’s not really what I need. I’m needing to review submitted forms, not submitted articles.

    Ah ha.
    Here’s a thought…

If a custom plugin can convert/create the submitted forms into a post/page with certain tags/categories, then, those posts/pages can be auto submitted into a workflow.

Will that be something that will work?

The only missing piece is to convert/create submitted forms into a post/page and assign it to a specific category and or tags, rest will be taken care by the Oasis Workflow plugin.

Hmm, that would be interesting. I might could make that work, provided the posts could be kept private.

Yes, you can configure the workflow to publish the article privately.

Essentially, the last step of the workflow will be an assignment step with success step setting the status to “private”.

If you need more information on how to setup the workflow, you can submit a query at https://www.oasisworkflow.com/submit-a-query

I will be able to send you screen shots of how the workflow will look like.

    Hope this helps.
