Hello, since last update a “api key required message” appeared even if non specified in the settings. Such as “CartoDB Positron” and “Light with big labels” 🙁

    Best regards

    Hi @lucaswpgdigital,

Yes, the map tile provider CARTO recently changed their requirements. Now you need to enter an API key in order to use their map styles.

The most recent Open User Map Version 1.4.50 reacts to that by prompting you to enter an API Key in the settings if you pick one of the CARTO map styles. “CartoDB Positron” and “Light with big labels” are CARTO map styles.

    Solution
Either get a (free) API Key from CARTO to continue using their map styles – or simply switch to any of the new OpenFreeMap styles (recommended). They don’t need any API keys and are also vector-based (fast to load).

Make sure you are using the most recent version 1.4.50 of Open User Map.

    Does that help?

    Best regards
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
thanks for your quick reply! I changed map style, for the next i will try to use a carto free api key 🙂
I suggest to insert a label “api key required” also on Carto map on next updates plugin, just to help other customers.

    Have a nice day
    Best regards

Alright, I’m glad this helped. I will consider to improve the map style selector further.

    Best regards,
    Daniel
