Announcements automatically deleted

    The church will post an announcement about an upcoming event — then forget to delete it. Obviously a calendar works but we want to have some more prominently shown.

    Thoughts?

    One option (one I’ve used) is to use one of the many event plugins. I like “All in One Event Calendar“). Enter all the events, but put the ones you want on the home page (or in any other special place) in a special category, then use one of the plugin’s shortcodes to display upcoming events from that category.

    Because it’s an event, it will no longer be “upcoming” and thus no longer shown, when the event is over.

    Then, of course, the challenge is getting people to put in the right start / end dates and times 🙂
