404 errors – good URLs with /undefined appended
-
Suddenly, I started getting thousands of 404 errors. Because I use a custom 404 page, this completely destroyed my traffic tracking; I started getting 4-5000 page views per day.
I notice that right before the GET request for the undefined link is a GET request to the following:
Host public-api.wordpress.com
Referrer http://widgets.wp.com/likes/master.html?ver=20130620a
I turned off the WordPress “likes” option in Jetpack and the problem disappeared.
This will hopefully help others but I worry that 13,000 404s is going to really mess up my SEO. Certainly, it wrecks three years of tracking legit traffic.
Is there any way to fix my traffic stats to eliminate the bogus requests? Thanks.
