Hi @mjmcmahon2010
Sorry to hear you are having this problem.
I don’t see any sidebar here: https://www.majacmedical.com.au/news-media-releases/
But I do see a class for storefront left sidebar.
However, I’m trying to understand the case here, I can see you are using the storefront theme, I installed this theme on my website but the sidebar works fine.
Did you create any customization on the theme?
But not when index.php is the displayed template. Instead we’re seeing the default Sidebar (which is the store/products sidebar).
Could you let us know how did you configure this?
Let us know this information.
Best Regards
Patrick Freitas
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for looking at this with me.
Yeah, the issue is that we’re not seeing a Sidebar on https://www.majacmedical.com.au/news-media-releases/. I expect to see the News sidebar which was configured in Widgets
The sidebar is configured in the widget area to show for Posts and the Post Index (and the News page in question I believe is the Post index page):
See this screenshot.

The Pharmacy Storefront theme has not been modified really beyond styles. Mostly just used plugins to get various functionality working.
Hello @mjmcmahon2010,
I did try to add the same on my end and it worked for me. Just to confirm did you also add it for Archive types? I did try to add that to Archive types and that worked for me.
Here is a screenshot to show how we added it and it worked for us:

If we set only for “Post index” I do see on my end on the blog archive page too. Can you try to set up a fresh lab site on your end and then check the same if that does not work with the said change and let me know if that works?
Also, should we be missing something here or misunderstanding something, kindly let us know about it and we would be happy to help and reiterate.
Thank you,
Prathamesh Palve
Hi Prathamesh,
Okay, I have added the News category (which I’m using for news posts) to the Category Archives area in the sidebar location settings.

It still doesn’t show up on the News page (the blog page of the site) however.
Hi @mjmcmahon2010,
Please do note that the plugin can only replace an existing sidebar with a custom sidebar that’s configured via the plugin.
Just to be sure, if the custom sidebar plugin is deactivated temporarily the default sidebar loads in the /news-media-releases/ page, right?
We tested with the default Storefront theme and can confirm the sidebar does get replaced for the pages that use the archive.php template.
The default template that gets called for the Archive would be the archive.php file. Could you please confirm if that’s the correct template being called for the /news-media-releases/ page?
The issue would be either due to the wrong template or due to a conflict. If you can confirm archive.php is the correct template called and since I don’t see you mention about running a conflict test.
Could you please run a conflict test as shown in the following flowchart and see whether it helps with ruling out where the issue is?
Flowchart:

Please do let us know how that goes so that we could assist further if needed. Looking forward to your response.
Kind Regards,
Nithin
Yes, when I turned off the Custom Sidebars plugin the default sidebar was displayed. When I turned it back on I don’t see a sidebar in the News/blog page.
Hi @mjmcmahon2010
Thank you for the information.
Had you taken the test that my friend suggested?
https://premium.wpmudev.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Support-Process-Support-Process.gif
It basically creates a full backup, disables all plugins keeping only he custom sidebar, woo ( if necessary ) and the theme, check if the issue is gone if so, enable one by one until it returns.
Remember to make it on a staging website or run a full backup first.
Let us know the result you got.
Best Regards
Patrick Freitas
So I have a staging site set up for this.
https://majacmedical.sitestage.com.au/news-media-releases/
On here the News sidebar works fine.
So now I’m on the live site and using the sidebar debug which shows this:

Any thoughts?
Mike
HI @mjmcmahon2010
Thank you for response and additional information!
I think we’re missing something here and it might be helpful to test this on our end with your sidebar settings. So far we’ve also been testing with Storefront theme while you’re using a child-theme of this (unfortunately, I don’t have access to that child-theme as it’s a premium one).
Custom sidebars can be exported from site (directly from “Appearance -> Widgets” page) so could you please do such export and share an export file with us, e.g. via your Dropbox, Google Drive or similar file storage?
it would also helpful if you could share the template file (from the child theme) that is used for displaying the page in question.
Hopefully a look into both will help us spot the “missing link” here.
Best regards,
Adam
Thank you for using Custom Sidebars. We are going to close this ticket for now because we have not heard from you in a while. If you still need support we can reopen the thread.
Cheers,

Yup, I no longer manage this site for the customer. Thanks for your time!
