• Hi, I have a few photos that were taken portrait. When I upload to media they are rotated onto their side. I installed a plugin to fix this and it hasn’t worked. Also, if I click edit image and then try to manually rotate the image this won’t work at all either. Any advice very much appreciated

  • You may want to disable that plugin as there are default options that allow you to rotate images you have saved.
Just to be 100% clear, if you go to your media in your WP dashboard, click on the image, and have the menu with cropping and rotation, clicking on the rotations do nothing? Can you elaborate a bit on “this image won’t work at all”? Do the buttons appear grayed out, or are they non-responsive?

Are you able to rotate other images in your dash?

Hi, thank you. The buttons are just unresponsive. It is the same on every image I try, not just images that are shot in portrait.

So, when you rotate your image, it essentially re-creates it and your server might not have enough memory to do that. Try testing the rotation with a really small image (less than 1mb) and see if it works. Here’s the thread I found with info about this: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/gallery-bank-picture-rotation-does-not-work/

If that doesn’t work, Here is someone with a similar problem – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/rotate-is-not-posibel/ and you may want to contact photo gallery support directly.

Let me know if any of that works!
