Description
LLMReader AI Bots connects your site to LLMReader, a service that monitors how AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) mention and cite your brand. An LLMReader account is required – the plugin sends data to it and does nothing until you enter your LLMReader ingest URL.
The plugin detects:
- AI crawlers and fetchers: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, Google-CloudVertexBot, Meta-ExternalAgent, Applebot, Amazonbot, Bytespider, CCBot and more,
- visitors referred by AI chat apps: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok, Mistral (by referrer or utm_source).
Matching requests are queued locally and sent to LLMReader every 5 minutes, so page loads are not slowed down. In LLMReader you can then see which pages AI bots read, which pages return errors to them and which pages people coming from AI chats land on.
Privacy
Only requests from AI crawlers and visits referred by AI chat apps are recorded. Regular visitors are not stored at all. IP addresses, cookies and query parameters (other than utm_source) are never collected. The plugin adds a suggested paragraph to Settings > Privacy > Policy guide that you can copy into your privacy policy.
Limitations
Pages served entirely from a full-page cache (for example LiteSpeed Cache or Cloudflare) do not run PHP, so the plugin cannot see those requests. For complete data you can additionally send your server access log to LLMReader.
External services
This plugin sends data to the LLMReader service (https://llmreaderapp.com), operated by LLMReader, to show AI crawler activity and AI chat referrals in your LLMReader account.
- What is sent: for each detected AI crawler request or AI chat referral – the visited page path (plus the utm_source parameter, if present), the HTTP status code, the User-Agent header, the Referer header, the time of the request, and the site domain you configure. No IP addresses, cookies or other query parameters.
- When it is sent: only after you enter your LLMReader ingest URL in Settings > LLMReader AI Bots. Queued events are sent every 5 minutes (WP-Cron), when you click “Send queued events now”, and an empty test request is sent when you click “Test connection”.
- Where: to the ingest URL you enter (https://llmreaderapp.com/api/ingest/…).
