Extending Invisible reCaptcha

Here are some useful hooks to help developers integrate Invisible reCaptcha with any plugin or custom form

Actions

- google_invre_render_widget_action - renders the recaptcha widget

Filters

- google_invre_is_valid_request_filter - used to check if Google approved the request (returns bool true/false)
- google_invre_widget_output_html_filter - used to change the recaptcha widget output
- google_invre_language_code_filter - used to change the badge/challenge language code
- google_invre_badge_position_filter - used to change the badge position (possible returning values are: 'bottomright', 'bottomleft', 'inline')

Examples of using Invisible reCaptcha hooks

  • Add Invisible reCaptcha into any form

    Just call
    do_action(‘google_invre_render_widget_action’);
    anywhere before form closing tag

  • Validate form post request

    $is_valid = apply_filters(‘google_invre_is_valid_request_filter’, true);
    if( ! $is_valid )
    {
    // handle error here
    }
    else
    {
    // continue with your logic
    }

  • Change the badge/challenge language code

    add_filter( ‘google_invre_language_code_filter’, ‘myprefix_change_recaptcha_language’ );
    function myprefix_change_recaptcha_language($language_code){
    $language_code = ‘fr’; // French
    return $language_code;
    }

Reviews

Excellent with one exception

First, this plugin works great out of the box for most situations and is easy to setup.

Second, I needed to have it working on a custom frontend login form and it was easy to add by hooking to login_form_bottom, so props on that.

Unfortunately, I have one major gripe which is that it injects itself as a top level admin menu and worse with a position of 46.1213… and there is no filter to change either of those things. There should be for both.

A plugin like this absolutely does not need to be accessed frequently enough to warrant being its own top level admin page. It should be a sub-menu in Settings. I do understand the desire of making it easy to find for setup, but increasingly plugins are providing a UI to easily demote a plugin after from being a top level menu down to a settings sub-menu.

Wow!

Really pleasantly surprised by 2 things

1) How effectively this works
2) How good the support was

Had a client who urgently wanted captcha for their newsletter signup but there wasn’t room in the design.

I came across this which not only works beautifully but is also so much more useable than other solutions. I asked if it worked for contact 7 mailchimp and they answered immediately with a very polite and helpful reply.

I highly recommend this.

Flawless, best of it’s kind.

Wonderful plugin that shows the quality of the author. Works right out of the box, easy to set up, and a great set of clear options.

Bet it’ll beat the older currently most popular one in no time. Great job!

Easy to use, inserts script automatically

One of the easiest to use plugins. Activate it and go to the settings page and check a few boxes and it’s automatically installed on all pages I want.

Works on /wp-admin login page, WooCommerce account login pages, integrates well with Contact Form 7.

I’m using the Flatsome theme, which displays the WooCommerce login as a popup on the homepage and I’m surprised that it worked properly!
