I forgot to mention that while I still have XML Sitemap & Google News feeds 4.7.1 installed, I have deactivated it due to the issues I had. Probably obvious, but I thought I should mention it.

I found the problem! I had disabled Hotlinking on my website. Once I turned off Hotlinking blocking, the images magically appeared!

Hope this helps somebody else in the future.

I have a default, web-accessible image selected in the NGFB dashboard, I have a featured, web-accessible image selected. However, neither image appears when sharing to Facebook. All I get is an empty box (which does link back to the correct post when clicked) over the text box with title, description, excerpt, etc.

I get the same result running FB URL debugger even though the og:image tag for the image is present and correct.

The same is true for other social media shares, however, I believe Pinterest is posting correctly.

I am also unclear as to what determines whether the images are accessible or “forbidden” in my uploads folder because the security protocols are all set at the same level, but some are and some aren’t accessible on the web.
