Is this problem you’ve described with a particular language? Does it work when selecting the English language?
Have you tried clearing the browser’s cache and restarting the browser?

Google ‘xampp curl’ or something similar …
The plugin requires the PHP cURL library, there’s no way to run it without that library.

Usually the issue you describe is down to a non-standard hosting set up (permissions, not enough memory, etc …). Difficult to debug as it could be any of this. But I agree that maybe we should write a FAQ about these issues.
Did you try logging your issue on our forums?
Have you tried clearing the browser’s cache, then closing and restarting it?

We’ll update the installation instructions in the next release.
