I wish this question had received an answer !
I am having the same issues, and I am not able to predict the format of an image (if I have to write some text in it, sometimes it gets cut out of one of the views, either thumbnail on top or even the big featured image in front sometimes.)

Hi, such a pity nobody is answering here. I hope someone will intervene soon !
I came to this question of yours doing a search for those file names since I just noticed them as well. My site was recently hacked quite badly, I am trying to fix it but still a new plugin I installed (antivirus) is detecting a lot of suspiscious codes through the installation, so I suspect (and would like a confirmation if possible! if someone knows) that this may be related to the activity of the hacker.

I also found new folders about applications I never used (one is for instance plupoad, isn’t this really suspiscious? as I didn’t even KNOW of this program?). This website is really tiny and little use, I had only one plugin so far so it’s easy to spot strange folders.
