From the menu in options/miscellaneous you should enable upload, there you can specify allowed extensions. You should add pdf.
The user should have level 6 at least to upload. The directory you specify should be writeable.

Ooops, I mean what I get from wordpress is Hola <br\> <math …., there’s an br inserted between the text Hola and the tag math?
