TO change a theme its best to make a child theme and add your own custom css. http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes this link here tells you everyting about how to make a child theme. hope it helps.

Checked out your site. Cheked it with Gooogle Chrome. Im runinng windows 7. Hover effects seem to be working well on eveything. The site name the icons and links are working. The words This Website is Under Construction are changing to a blue color. No issues from what i can see. Hope this helps
