Rename your .htaccess file to something like .htaccess-hold. This file is in your root WordPress directory along with files like wp-config.php.

You can use either FTP or the File Manager in your hosting account to rename the file. You can google for an FTP client and how to use it or use the Windows like file manager inside your hosting account. Hosts use various file manages so look at your hosts knowledgebase for how to use their file manager or ask your host for instructions.

These tools and steps are the basic ones used to repair many problems with WordPress. If you plan to repair your own WordPress, the time spent learning these basics will make future repairs easier.

I can still see your rate the site popup. Have you turned the plugin back on?

Just to make sure I understand, when you were talking about removing www, were you talking about in Settings > General? So that the WordPress and Site addresses are exactly the same?

I see you are using Jetpack. Would you disable it to see if it may be conflicting? Jetpack can do so many things.

If Jetpack is not the issue, you may want to disable all plugins. You shouldn’t loose any of the plugin configuration if you just disable them. If your issue goes away, start turning on the plugins one at a time until you find the plugin causing the problem.

Good job on replacing the WordPress core. At least you know that the core is sound. If Jetpack or the plugins are not causing your problems, it points to your themes. Themes contain a functions.php file that is as likely to cause a conflict as any plugin. In your case you will have two of these functions.php files, one in the child and on in the parent.

I don’t know if it’s possible in your case but can you switch to an unmodified twenty fifteen theme and try to duplicate your error?

The odds are that your issue is a conflict. The above suggestions are to either find the conflict or rule out conflicts altogether.

If you find no hint of a conflict we can start troubleshooting sessions.

It could be a cache issue. Are you using a caching plugin or Cloudflare?
