In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyHi @enderwiggin Under Settings > Reading is your site set to display a static page as the Home page? If so you need to change that setting to display latest posts on the home page. The theme will then display the slider with your latest posts by default and the masonry grid below. You can also control which posts appear in the slider using the WP sticky posts feature…flag one or more posts as sticky and only those will appear in the slider.

In reply to: [Simply Read] Home page posts displaying 2 columns instead of 3Hi @curtsoul, I’m seeing three columns on your site so I gather you’ve figured this out.

In reply to: [Simply Read] words split in half at the end of linesHi Linz72, have just submitted an update to address this. Should be live and available in the next few days.

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyUntil such time as I can work this out the only option maybe to disable Jetpack completely or use another theme. I know that’s not what you want to hear I just can’t promise to figure this out immediately.

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyThe Carousel feature seems the most likely offender. Have you tried disabling that?

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyI can’t say, I’ll be going through the same process as you are to try and identify the problematic one. What Jetpack features have you been using?

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyHmm, I’ll take a look and see if I can figure out where the clash is, but I can’t promise an immediate fix or update sorry. The only solution in the immediate future is to use another theme or not use Jetpack.
Can you tell me which features of Jetpack you were using?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyJetpack adds a bunch of functionality some of which requires a WordPress.com account (eg. analytics).

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyI don’t know I’m sorry, it’s not theme related. The Sharing menu under settings sounds like it would be related to a plugin. Are you sure you reactivated them all? Perhaps you need to activate Jetpack?

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyI don’t know why your widgets disappeared. Have you tried visiting Appearance > Widgets and checking to see the widgets are in place?
I don’t know why the ‘Coming Soon’ message is there, it isn’t powered by the theme. It sounds like one of those Coming Soon plugins?

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyDid you have any special Twitter, Facebook and/or Email signup form plugins installed? Have you tried enabling your plugins again one by one to isolate the one which caused the problem with the slider?

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyYes, the Autoplay Speed setting controls the number of seconds before the slider moves on.

In reply to: [Simply Read] Slider shows up funnyHmm, that’s very odd. Are you using any plugins? One thing you could try is to disable all plugins and see if that ‘fixes’ the problem. If it does then you know you have a theme clash…enable the plugins again one by one to isolate the clash.
Also, what are your slider settings under Appearance > Customize > Slider?
How to add banner code depends on where and what kind of banner you want to add to the theme. If you want it in the header then you’ll need to add your banner code to the header.php template. Keep in mind though you must always set up your theme as a child theme before making any template customization so that future updates do not overwrite your local changes.

In reply to: [Simply Read] Image sizes – custom fieldsHi @kellis21, this is possible but would require a fair bit of customization of the theme. More than I can get into here.
You can control the slider posts using the sticky posts feature, so perhaps you can set 1200×500 featured images for sticky posts and 360×360 featured images for non-sticky? That would require no customization and ensures that the slider doesn’t show the same posts as the grid below.

In reply to: [Simply Read] masonry postsHi Neil, adding footer widgets would require a fair bit of template and CSS customization. You’d be best to find a local developer to help you with that.
