In reply to: error message incorrect username or passwordThis is the support forum for self-hosted WordPress sites. I’d hazard a guess that you’ve been trying to log in to the wordpress.com support forums using your self-hosted credentials. That’s never going to work because the two aren’t connected.

So, are you saying that you can successfully log in to http://www.firstliftup.co.uk/ where you have a WordPress site running?
I’m not sure what you mean by WordPress support? What URL do you visit where your log in fails?

In reply to: Warning Fatal ErrorYou’re going to have to visit your site either through your hosts panel software, FTP or SSH. You need to rename your active theme directory to something else, even just adding one character. WordPress will then revert to the default theme and you’ll be able to log in.

In reply to: Incorrect password/admin after changingAnd with the FTP I need to actually log into the site to change the password … which obviously I can’t do …
No you don’t. FTP is completely separate from WordPress.
It appears that your hosts support CPanel, a web based hosting management tool. Your former admin may have left you log in details for that too. You should be able to log in to CPanel and set up an FTP account or reset an FTP password if there are already existing accounts. If you don’t have your CPanel log in details, contact your hosts.
Once done, armed with your new FTP details, use something like FileZilla to access your WordPress installation. From there you should be able to follow the Resetting Your Password advice pointed out by Andrew.
