Well a little bit more THINKING and I wouldn’t have had to show myself as an idiot to the whole WordPress community. 🙁

The two options named above DO work IF you use the whole URL. i.e. http://www.thisismysite.whatever/. WordPress seems to be a bit fussy about this. Missing off the “http://” and the end “/” seems to have stopped it from working.
