4.9 out of 5 stars!! That’s quite a rating, considering that over 1500 have contributed to reviews. Why did you not request support? Chances are good it was not this product to blame.
But this is a plugin designed for caching, not aesthetics. The public don’t see these things.
Hi Scott
I have found the issue and hope you have a solution.
The login / registration form is a WooCommerce form.
In WooCommerce settings, I enabled the option to show both login and registration in the same popup modal.
If i disable that, meaning that only the login form shows, then no problem. That necessitates that I set up a separate page for registration useing WooCommerce Simple Registration plugin.
If I do that, there is no issue but if I attempt to add a css class to my menu items and then specify “popup” to use a popup modal for the registration form, its back to the same problem. No popup and back to a blank page. So, the problem is some kind of conflict with the registration form using a popup modal.
Hope you can help. I really do not wish to use a separate registration page as this detracts from functionality and ease of use.
Hello Scott
I will concede that I did not request support HERE. I have to state that I was not aware that forum was also used for support.
I do believe that WP Spamshield is one of the best products out there. I have never complained about the product.
If you will be willing to provide me with some help, I will definitely adjust the review here to a very positive one.
I have one problem that I need to correct and I have one or two questions regarding the usefulness of the comment protection with social sharing enabled.
1. My website is currently being customised at present, under a subdomain so it is not live (and currently blocking search engines). You can see it here.
There is a login menu item which, when clicked, causes the login / registration form to pop up.
When WP Spamshield plugin is enabled, this functionality does not work. Instead I am taken to a blank page where nothing happens.
If I disable the registration protection in settings, the form works as expected but then I have no spam protection for this form.
I have tried disabling social login (OneAll) and this makes no difference at all indicating that there is no plugin conflict here.
I need to get this working properly.
2. Please can you advise if spam protection will work properly for comments while social sharing (super socialiser) is enabled over here.
I look forward to your help as I would really like to make use of your plugin on my website.
Many thanks.
This review is certainly not unfounded. Reviews are designed to inform other users of their experience with regards a particular product. Do you expect that you are going to get positive reviews when your own support site does not work. Yes I cleared my browser cache and cookies. Yes I did the same with another browser. Yes I still had the same problem with both.
You have no idea how much frustration and time I spent just trying to make contact with you, but as you state on your website, you are not that keen to provide support for a free product. So I spent absolute ages sifting through your troubleshooting and FAQs which provided to solution to my problem – and after all that I was unable to make contact via your support site.
And then you have the temerity to shoot back at at the validity of this review. Had I made no attempt to get support, then in that instance I would have conceded that I may be wrong, but considering the facts here and the complete inability to make contact with you, I feel that this review is fully justified.
Possibly your time could be better spent sorting out your own website so that support issues are made easy and not so difficult as to annoy users, instead of defending valid reviews that inform users correctly.
