The options you are looking for are situated above the post or page you want the slider to be in.
Just open the page you want it to be in or add a new page and in the edit options for that page you will see a button with a big G in it. Click on that and you will find the options.
I admit it was a bit of a search for me too 😉
Not sure where I found out where it could be found.
The menu script says:

I put the bit of coding you said to 1000 and even 11000 but still no luck!
I noticed the Rss icon is also on top but that didnt bother me too much (and I hoped the fixing the menu problem would also fix that 😉 )
