  • I am experimenting with the free version of your plugin before purchasing an upgrade for the site I am building for activity directors at senior living communities (https://www.entertainersforseniors.com).

I am having some difficulty creating an rss feed that provides only job opportunities that will be relevant to them. When I try, http://rss.indeed.com/rss?q=Activity%2BDirector&1=north+carolina, most of the job listings that stream into the site are from the state of Wisconsin.

    I have three questions:
    1. Is there an error in the syntax of the URL I am using?
    2. Is there a better feed?
    3. If I upgrade to Pro and set the plugin to refresh automatically on a periodic basis, will the job postings be refreshed by deleting filled and expired listings or will more job postings just be added.

Thank you for your assistance in my evaluation of your plugin. /Bill

    Jimmerd,

Until someone from Wordfence responds to this thread, I can share with you the results of the research I have conducted that now allow me to successfully conclude scans.

First, you may want to read the Wordfence document, entitled “My scans don’t finish. What would cause that?” which is located here: https://docs.wordfence.com/en/My_scans_don%27t_finish._What_would_cause_that%3F.

In my case, I solved the scan fails by setting “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 30 seconds. I also re-enabled “Pause live updates when window loses focus” which I had disabled while trying to identify the cause of the problem. Apparently disabling that option significantly increases CPU load. In my case, I saw a 25% to 50% decrease in CPU utilization.

If the suggestions in the article do not work for you and you are running a WordPress iste, you could try installing the Heartbeat Control plugin, and simply disabling the heartbeat. You can also modify the heartbeat if you are more technical.

One size does not fit all sites so I make no promises that these settings will work for you. However, I understand the frustration of Wordfence slowing or crashing a site and not knowing where to get an answer. At least this gives you a place to start until Wordfence comments on this thread. /Bill
