In reply to: WP Blog loading extremely slowlyI may be wrong. I tried another site on the same server and it loaded quite fast. Didnt check yours, but if you are here, im guessing its slow.
change your theme to the default. does that help? if thats the case, then you will want to address your chosen themes issues — starting with the validation errors mentioned above.

That said, now that you are here..
you could move wordpress into the root of your domain — that would cause all the subdir links to 404. A better solution, though, to the 404 might be to send a 410 Gone. (thats what I would do — Google likes them) You can do that with a one line edit to your .htacces

Another solution is to just send the 410 Gone without moving the wordpress install.

Allow js: not so fast.
http://analyze.websiteoptimization.com reports that you have 14 different scripts running on your front page. something needs to be optimized, Im guessing.

Your hosting environment is what you need to be concerned with – not WordPress.
I want to keep a copy on my computer (for tweaking, etc.) but want both the web site and my “localhost” version to work.
can you define what you mean by “work”, after youve read the links above 🙂

In reply to: Assigning a URL to a Large Media Fileif you upload the file via the media upload feature .. here are otto‘s instructions for creating a direct link to said file:
1. Add new post.
2. Click “Add Media” button.
3. Using the file selection thing, select your file and click the upload button.
4. After it uploads, you’ll have this new section that shows a Title, Caption, Description, and Link URL. Fill in any of the fields the way you want.
5. Click “File URL”.
6. Click “Insert into Post”.What you’ll now get in your post will be a link to that file. Write the rest of your post and publish it.
