In reply to: WP and Plugins Donations SystemFound the expert! (It’s you.)
not me!!! I dont assume im able to judge anyone else’s work, or put a value on their time. I struggle enough trying to put a value on my own time. π
It would be nice to be able to make one payment to a “bank” for plugin makers.
I can see that, but consider this — some plugins end up, for whatever reason, needing to be rewritten with every upgrade, or they get new features added. For some end-users thats a good thing.
Then you have a plugin like wp-chunk, which I havent had to touch in nearly 2 years. Its worked as is, in 2.0.x and it works as is, in 2.8.5
for some end-users that reliability is more valuable than any new features I might add.
Its one of those “eye of the beholder” things. plugins are pretty subjective,

and while we’re at it,fairly allocate the donation on the basis of the quality of the plugin (e.g. sophistication and complexity [time-spent and skill of plugin maker as estimated by experts who could estimate such things], value and usefulness, etc.)
whos the expert? and who decides whats fair? said expert?
sorry- bad idea.

In reply to: ‘Please update now’ killed the blog. Any HELP appreciated.whaaa.
dear website person:
take responsibility for your actions much?
instead of continuing to bemoan something thats not going to change, why dont you rename the theme you are using so that its NOT the classic theme — a theme that IS going to be overwritten with every upgrade.
oh, and then try backing up. In case you missed it — you ARE warned about that before proceeding with the upgrade.
