I discovered that if you try to edit a new page then you can enter text from the iPad, and if you immediately go to create or edit a post from this point you can, but as soon as you close the keyboard you will not be able to edit any longer until you follow the above steps again.
Hope so cause I just bought an iPad primarily so I could edit my site on the road. Bother!
