Before I upgraded to WP 3.0, I backed up my 2.9.2 installation. Now how would I go about cleaning out my MySQL database or at least checking it for exploits?

I use FireFTP to upload to a 1&1 server. And I am uploading it to the plugins folder. I’m wondering if its something to do with 1&1. I’ve tried FileZilla but, I says connection timed out. Also, when I go to get the same plugin off of Add New,it claims the plugin is installed and at the latest version.
Nope, none of the plugins I had uploaded appeared and switching themes didn’t help either. I’m considering doing a WordPress re-install or just waiting the problem out until the 3.0 update in April. Any other ideas?
