No. WordPress removes the trailing slash and it doesn’t seem to be the recommended way as well ( to have a trailing slash in WordPress Address/ Site Address URLs )

https://flintobox.com/blog is the WordPress Address / Site address of this blog.My understanding is that the canonical URL of the site address will always have a ‘/” added by Yoast SEO.

Also, the link you talk about gives information to configuring canonical for page and posts. I don’t see a configuration for home page / front page/ site url
