    Thanks for the reply Govpatel.
Let me break up your questions, to be sure i understand the issues that are involved.

a). tryng install on online host.
    b). not on your computer.

Are you saying there are two separate ways to install/setup/operate the wp-web site?

#1. Install onto the online server. (FTP)?
#2. Set up/Install onto my Computer. (SQL)?

(i can see my host in the stars of the milkyway already).

I had the option whether to choose the Linux server, or Windows server (and i can still change it by request).
I chose the Windows server, because i thought that would be easier to setup.
Because i have always used Windows OS.

Q1. Correct me i am wrong on the above point?

Q2. Of the above two set up/Install, which of the two is more complicated/trouble free?

Q3. If more familiar with Windows OS, than the Linux OS, is it very difficult to set up using the Linux OS on the Web host server?

I need a guide, to lead me out of this wp-jungle, before i melt into a stream of pink confusion.

    Govpatel.

    I had a look at the codex.wordpress/trouble shoot/wp-installation page.

It is like looking at phone book-Yellow pages in a foreign country, it hurts.

I would rather follow a known path, and not start a new one through a jungle. I know there must be someone out there that knows the path in/out.

    Question:

What do i need to do with MySQL re: WordPress site?

    Thread Starter Vesajohn

    (@vesajohn)

With the web site service that i have ordered from my Web host, there is a MySQL included. But no control panel.

I hope i did not mislead you into thinking that there was no MySQL provided with the web service?

    Does that change anything?

Sorry my mistake, it was a “WordPad”, not a NotePad.

    Govpatel.
I have read it several times, i don’t have the source at hand, but it was not about wordpress, but rather about creating the html for entire web site, a very basic tool for creating a web site.

You mentioned My SQL database, can you tell me more.

E.g. What do i have to do with MySQL, in regard to the wp-3.1?
Can you tell if i have to connect to my server (with MySQL), and then open the wp-data from there, or do i have to install the wp-files into MySQL, or what is it exactly that the MySQL is used for re: Starting up a WordPress web site?

I read somewhere that it is possible to create a web site with using a “notepad”? A Notepad! Hollie Mollie! That would put Adobe out of business, if we could build web sites with a note pad, (a notepad?), a freaking notepad for building a web site????

    Govpatel.

No i don’t want more programs, what i do need is to learn how to use the programs that i already have on my computer.

The Word Press 5 minute Install instructions only mentions a very few services/programs needed:

    #1. Internet connection.
    #2. Computer with OS.
    #3. WordPad/IZarc or equivalent to Unzip/expand wp-files.
#4. FTP program, e.g. FileZip to upload the wp-files to a host server.
    #5. MySQL Desktop/ equivalent.

My computer slows down with too many programs, i am getting tired of too many programs that clutter it’s performance, the adage “less is more”, works with computer performance also.

    Govpatel:
“once you created the database did you run the install program
    /wp-admin/install.php after your domain name”.

Yes i did, and it opened up this page:

    “Welcome

Welcome to the famous five minute WordPress installation process! You may want to browse the ReadMe documentation at your leisure. Otherwise, just fill in the information below and you’ll be on your way to using the most extendable and powerful personal publishing platform in the world.
    Information needed”.

Please provide the following information. Don’t worry, you can always change these settings later.
    Site Title
    Username

I filled in the details, and from there what followed was the same as i described in the first entry on the top of this page (see entry one!:
    WordPress › Support » Installation
“After the install “Success” message, wp-home page won’t open”?

    (@vesajohn)

    Hi ! govpatel.

Yes i did create the data base (added MySQL DB-details), and yes it has been uploaded to the server.

    Re:
“if the install program can connect to database only then you will get to a page to install the tables required in database”.

Govpatel, i believe wp-3.1 has installed, because there was the “Success” message:

    “Success!

WordPress has been installed. Were you expecting more steps? Sorry to disappoint.
    Username _ _ _ _ _ _ _
    Password (Your chosen password).

    Log In (Radio Button)”.

But from there it won’t go any further?

Maybe as apljdi noted, that i need to use a MySQL. I do have it on my computer, and it has connected to the server, what do i need to do next to start up the Wp-web site?

    Continued:

“What I am suggesting is that you delete the database tables that have already been created and try again”.

I did create a New Server Instance with the MySQL,and it did connect to the server o.k, but not sure where to go from there?

    Thread Starter Vesajohn

    (@vesajohn)

Hi ! apljdi. Thanks for the reply.

Yes i did make changes to the wp-config-sample file; MySQL-Db content, and then changed the name to; wp-config.php.

My web host does have a C-panel only, but the MySQL database facility is not available.

But i do have a MySQL Workbench on my computer, can i use that?

I have not created any posts with this particular #2 site, in fact i have not even seen it unwrap.

    Q. Data base tables? what data base tables? The only data that i have uploaded to my host server is the downloaded wp-3.1, and made the neccesary changes to the MySQL-DB.

I used FileZip to upload the wp-files, and a IZarc to extract the download, and edit to edit the config.php file.

    Hi ! apljdi.

Just to be sure that i understand what you mean, i’ll break up your question/answer:

a). have i tried with a clean database.
b). sound like there is no content in database.
c). so just delete all of the tables and try fresh.

Q1. The database wp-config-sample, had changes made to the MySQL data base.
    Q2. “Content” what content?

Q3. Delete all of the tables, what “tables”.

Hi ! you are not alone. With my previous wp-blog, after installing it, and getting it up onto the web i was adding a single picture per blog entry, everthing was working fine.

Then one day i added a plug in; “The Ultimate Analytics”, after that, each time i did a blog entry and tried to attach a picture, i could not. There was always a long string of “something”, put no picture?

So, if it of any help to you, i had a similar change with the blog page. Since then with the blog, i have only been able to add a link to the picture.
