We’re using Shopp. So, I went to the Plugin Directory (repository?) and did a search for Shopp, clicked on the first link that came up, clicked on the support tab and in there did a search for “retrieve deleted order.” Since the only applicable answer in there was “This is a third-party plugin so you should direct your question to them, not in WordPress forums,” I went ahead and entered a topic and message.
I appreciate your direction through this maze!
