I’ve finally managed to get the problem fixed!

What I did was, log into my site via FTP and delete all WordPress files and folders, the go to my host and delete the MYSQL database I had created. I then used a script provided by my host to quickly install WordPress again and imported my backup! It seems so simple now I come to think of it!

Thanks again to everyone who’s help in this thread, it is much appreciated!

    Hi.

I’ve just tried re-uploading everything except the wp-content files, upon visiting the site I was prompted to set up a wp-config file which I did. I then clicked Run the Install and was told that WordPress was already installed. Now all I’m seeing when I visit my URL is a white page.

Before attempting to move host, I did use the ‘Export’ feature of WordPress and still have the file it prompted me to download. I was wondering, would I be able to simple run a clean installation and then import this file via the Dashboard or would this not work?

As ever, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I’ll try that tomorrow and see if that works.

I have just been informed my my host that no logs ate kept on ny account, so no luck there.

Anyway, hopefully your suggestion will have some effect, I’ll post here as soon as I know the outcome. Thanks once again, I really appropriate it.

Okay, I’ve just contacted my host asking how to find the logs but owing to the fact it’s free hosting, I’ve found the support can sometimes be less than helpful.

On the host’s forums, other people with a similar error have been told to reinstall the CMS using a provided script. I’m not sure if this might solve the problem or if I would be able to restore my backup this way?

    Thanks again.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have followed those instructions. Given that I was just changing the host I folowed the instructions under “When Your Domain Name and URLs Do Not Change” (copied over files, changed wp-config, imported MySQL database) but clearly something has gone wrong somewhere?
