Thank you for your response. I have tried all the plugins and during the process realised that only in the WordPress User section do these Twitter usernames actually exist.
This is the only place I have entered our usernames so it would seem that this is perhaps a WordPress issue?
OR like you say, a theme issue.
If I did switch to 2015 Theme would I have to recrawl my site in order to see if the issue has been solved?
