    Thanks kmessinger…

Looks like I have a fresh new opportunity to learn all kinds of new things I didn’t really want to learn. 😉

I really appreciate the links — they’ll help me get started wading through the issues.

That crossed my mind, but I have very few plugins, and tend to only use those that are commercial, wildly popular, or sponsored by wordpress.

I wonder… could any of the plugins that require access to a wordpress.com account (like Akismet or Jetpack) cause this to happen? For example, if wordpress.com allows unwanted ads and I use a plugin that requires I have a wordpress.com account then, by the transitive property of geometry, does my self-hosted site get filled with unwanted ads?

Rather than disabling plugins and seeing if the unwanted ad posts no longer start appearing, can I search for any malicious code in the plugins themselves? Perhaps by doing a search in the various “edit plugin” screens? Any idea what I’d search for?

    Thanks.
