I found this bug. It happing only in customizer.
I`ll fix it in new version.What you mean flag in frontend?
You can display language switcher from menu, widget or function.WP Multilang do not support different permalinks for each language.
Flag You cat set up in General Settings.

Custom language use for adding locales, what are not available in WordPress. After addin new locale You need save settings.

Dropdown language list is using select tag.
if ( function_exists ( 'wpm_language_switcher' ) ) wpm_language_switcher (array('type'=>'dropdown'));
For displaying flags with languages You need customize language list with css.
Or You can make your own function for displaying language selector.
As example you can use functionwpm_language_switcher.Hi s56vha.
