In reply to: Reload on Theme Switch Instead of Going HomeAm I really the only one that wants this functionality? Or that can’t find Ryan’s contact info? XD?

In reply to: Reload on Theme Switch Instead of Going HomeI tried asking here because I’m not really sure how to contact Ryan Boren – his website lists the plugin, but that link goes to the WordPress plugin repository, which doesn’t have contact information other than that website, which makes for one big circle.
Soooo…does anyone have the contact info for him or can just modify the plugin as originally requested? It doesn’t matter to me which of the plugins get modified, I’ll happily use whichever one offers the functionality I need since they’re essentially the same right now anyway.

In reply to: Can I add a post without it appearing on the index page?Try Solvent? Supposedly works fine with 2.0, and it’ll let you make posts “slippery” so they slide on past the index page.

In reply to: Page restriction plugin: it does not workI was able to get the Page Restriction plugin working after following the tweaks available on the author’s website.
However, I have an additional question now that it’s working. I’d like it to check, not only whether a user is registered or not, but if they’re of a sufficient level/role to view the page. jweaks had a small hack for this but I could not get it to work.
Any help or suggestions?

In reply to: Writing post: selecting child and parent category in one clickWell, say that you have multiple children categories (for example, the child category “Reviews”) under the parent categories “Movies”, “Books”, and “Games”? Like this:
– Movies
— Blah1
— Blah2
— Reviews
– Books
— Blah3
— Reviews
– Games
— Blah4
— ReviewsWhen the list of categories for a post is displayed, if the parent category isn’t checked, it will only list the category as “Reviews” but not include more information than that. Is it a movie review? A book review or a game review? If the parent category is also displayed, then there’s no question as to which kind it is.
Yes, the user can check both parent and child categories for each post, but it seems like it would speed things up to have an option to auto-check the parent category if the child category is chosen. The post is going to show up in the parent category anyway, so why not mark it as so?

In reply to: Submit post in category but not main pageWell, there’s Solvent, but it hasn’t been upgraded for 2.0 compatibility yet.

In reply to: Grouping archives by yearHmm…question. I really like what this plugin promises to do, but getting it to actually do that seems to be the problem. I’d like to show the past four or five months of the current year (in this case, 2004), and then just link to the previous years (2003) without showing the months for them. However…setting the limit to four doesn’t show the previous year at all; setting it higher (say, 24), shows 2003 months. How can I get it to show just the four or five most recent months, and then have year links for the rest?
IE:
2004
____December
____November
____October
____September
2003

In reply to: downgradeMaybe I will try downgrading. Originally I had tried out 1.3 in hopes that the password protection feature would work properly (it didn’t in 1.2 until earlier today), but it was (still is, with the new cookiehash stuff?) broken in 1.3 as well. At that point I was already committed to my apparently foolish course. Now that 1.2.1 is fixed, I was hoping to get back to that point.
If not, no big loss to the blogging world. I’m just a stupid user, I guess. Thanks for the friendly, helpful atmosphere.
