Support » Fixing WordPress » Single Post Static on Home Page

  • I was wondering if there was a way with conditional tags to display a single post as the first entry on my home page. I’d like to have a Welcome to my Site post, that always remains as the first post, and then have the recent ones underneath that.

    Anyone?

  • Something like Adhesive?

Also, you can browse the Plugins section in the Codex.
On many blogs I am using this plugin:

    Hi Moshu,

Here is something I am looking for, instead of having a sticky post at home page.

I normally look out for a static home page, following them would be blogs, and again the blog posts need not appear on home page unless and other wise mentioned.

I shall add category or links in sidebar so that users click from them, hope you get what I mean. In homepage I just want welcome message and nothing more and for reading blog posts, one has to browse the links I put in sidebar or use category and navigate to find articles.

    Thanks,
    Dream

So, can’t you use the same plugin I gave above?
Since I don’t like any of the so-called “frontpage plugins” I always do it in this way:
    – create a home.php, e.g. by saving your index.php (in the theme)
    – delete The_Loop
    – create a Page with your welcome message (and, eventually, exclude it from being shown in the Pages list, if you use it)
    – call that Page with the plugin above in the home.php

Your blog’s main page will display only the welcome message and whatever esle you put there + you can update/edit that mesaage any time from the admin, without editing files.
    Does this help?

    moshu,

I was having that exact problem so I followed your suggestion – it worked like a charm!

    Thanks for the tip!
