In reply to: Upload a File (for Google Site Verification)P.S.
I sent Colleen an email asking her about the server.WP has been such a large PITA compared to my usual way of doing things. For my own websites, I simply write the HTML myself and use FilesZilla to upload changed/new files to my server. I’ve been doing this since 1997 when I started my first radio program.

Of course, I do nothing fancy which, although plain to view, is safe for visitors. My code does nothing except display information. I do nothing to collect info or run on the visitor’s machine.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Upload a File (for Google Site Verification)I went to the plugin tab of my dashboard and added the suggested plugin. Other than editing or deactivating it, I cannot see any way to actually USE it. What am I missing?
Please remember. I have not downloaded any WP software or plugins to my computer and am operating solely from the online interface via my browswer.

In reply to: Upload a File (for Google Site Verification)I inherited webmaster duties for a website that already existed. I have no clue where the site is being hosted. I assumed that Word Press is the host. I was never given any files, only a password so I could go in to the site and create a login for myself.
I simply want to upload a file but there is no facility for doing so. Everything is done on-line through the WordPress interface which does not seem to provide the means to simply upload a file. None of the pages on the website exist on my computer. They were all created on-line so there is nothing to upload whenever I make changes to the RTO-PA website. There is no WP software on my computer.
The bottom of my dashboard says:
Version 4.3.1

In reply to: Two Homes Listed in MenuHi kjodle,
I cannot access it for editing and do not know it’s URL. When I meddle with the account settings, the offending home page shows at http://rto-pa.com but that does not allow me to edit it and I do not want what it says to show to the publie, especially since I received many kudos at orchestra rehearsal last week on what a fine job I’ve done at sprucing up and updating the website.
Cheers,
Bill

In reply to: Two Menu Woes on Inherited WebsiteThank you Venutius! Setting a static page with only the front page set to home worked. I didn’t set the Posts Page to anything. It still says -Select-. The first time I tried to do that, WP asked if I really wanted to do that. It didn’t give me a way to reply but then took me back to the Settings –> Reading tab where I did the same thing again, despite knowing that a definition of insanity is taking the same action and expecting a different result. Well, I got a differnet result and it’s the one I wanted! Thanks again.

In reply to: Two Menu Woes on Inherited WebsiteHi Venutius,
Thank you for taking a look. I guess that I forgot to mention that I returned to Front page displays Your latest posts which shows the Home page that I cannot edit. As much as I want to change the horrible impression that page gives, having the page show all the info from all the pages just wasn’t sitting well with me, either.
Cheers,
Bill

In reply to: Two Menu Woes on Inherited WebsiteTypo Corrections:
In the last paragraph, I wrote:
After much reading, I went to Settings –> Reading and selected static page with Home selected for both From Page and Posts Page. Clicked on Sace Changes.
What I meant to write was:
After much reading, I went to Settings –> Reading and selected static page with Home selected for both Front Page and Posts Page. Clicked on Save Changes.
I highlighted the fixes.
