We resolved it on this install, the server didn’t have php5-gd installed, it was by chance we upgraded to WP4 and changed the server that this happened.
I’m having the same issue as well. Every other option works as intended with the exception of the checkbox to add thumbnail. Once I select it and save it reverts back to the unchecked state.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
