Ok. it would appear that the default form action function is the thing that is getting confused. To over come this I have simple created a new form template removed form start function and added the alternative method as described in your tutorial. I then removed the form action function and hard coded the page I wanted it to goto. All appears to be working fine. So unless you want to figure out how to solve this I consider the issue closed. PS could you remove my url in the post above
I think the problem is around the use of the widget plugin written by http://chiefalchemist.com/. I had a look at his code and cant see why the redirect thing doesnt work as all seems to have done is import your form into his widget.
Your plugin does work when added to a page as your plugin can figure out which page to call itself and hence give the thankyou message and then the redirect.
It would appear that is cant figure out how to call itself when embeded in a widget.
Im using the following
PermalinkSettings Day and Name
rather than directing me to the page ie results i get a random
why not give it a go to see what I mean
http://www.britishshowjumpingwiltshire.com
and enter any dummy data into the form. What I want to happen is that it redirects to the Results page where i list the form post in a table
(For anyone else reading this post please dont abuse the form – hopefully I can delete the URL after we sort this out :-))

Ill give that a go. the only problem is that the 86.150…. IP address is dynamic and Im not sure how long the lease is. That said Im only using this for testing before I deploy it onto a service provider. Of interest my other domain lurielogistix.zapto.org works perfectly with NO-IP and with Home and URL set as lurielogistix.zapto.org
Thanks for you prompt assistance and suggestions. Ill post a reply when Ive given it ago.

the wordpress site in question is bswilts.hopto.org. this site is hosted by NO-IP which resolves this site to the following IP http://86.150.255.62:8080/
As you will see all of the wordpress links resolve to a LAN address.
