  • I have the same issue here. Strip category results in page not found. Unchecking ‘strip category’ brings the page back. I much prefer having the category tag stripped out of the url.

Like johnsgtslaughter above, I’ll wait for the fix. I love the plugin aside from this issue. I’m sure it will be resolved.

Thank you, Joost, for all your hard, excellent work!

I have a similar problem, a bit perplexing.

I deactivated my old Google sitemaps plugin and opted to use the sitemaps generator from within Joost’s WP SEO plugin.

When I log into my FTP client, I cannot find the new sitemap page at mysite.com/sitemap_index.xml. It is not listed in my FTP client’s files.

I had deleted my sitemaps from the old Google sitemaps plugin, so my FTP client now shows ZERO sitemaps files.

However, if I type the URL directly into my browser, it shows that the page is there.

If the page is indeed actually there, how come it is not listed on my FTP client, which shows all files stored on my serever?

    Please advise.

OK. I finally did it. Here’s the deal:

    1. When trying to access my URL, I was prompted to install WordPress
    • (which threw me for a loop because I thought it was already installed)
    • Upon “Installing”, I was given a temporary default password
    • Once inside the WP interface, I changed the default password to the password I had set for the MySQL database
    • After the above steps, I typed in the domain name into the URL window… and there she was! My website in all her glory.

Thanx for contribution to this discussion.

It would seem that one of the 4 parameters you mentioned would be the culprit. However, I have double checked and each one is correct! I’m still poking around trying to get to the bottom of this problem and when I achieve success, I’ll post the results here.

Of course, if you have any other insights or suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks for that link, Figaro. Though, it seems like I have followed all the steps to a “t”, but I still get the “Error establishing a database connection” message.

Not sure quite what to do.

Thank you for the reply. As I’m not an expert on such matter (though I’m always expanding my knowledge base), I’m not quite sure of the best way to go about doing the CHMOD.

I already was once in the MySQL control panel, I think I may have changed all permissions to 777 (though I think this might be a bad thing to do for security reasons). But it was my understanding that a 777 code should have made my files writable, which it did not.

What am I doing incorrectly and what should I do to get back on the right path?

    Many thanx!

    Twan
