I gave up, excluded the directory, and charged forward into the breach. Most people don’t even know what FTP is.
That’s why they use WordPress…Ok, just giving out some real world experience (take with a grain of salt please).
Most people I encounter who use backup plugins are using them due to, either being hacked previously, or an overabundance of caution in hopes they can recover “when” they are hacked.
Since hackers often hack core files within WordPress, your not including the core files in backup means that when client goes to “recover” their site will likewise remain hacked; client will at some point figure this out; then summarily the delete your plugin and move on to another that does.
In the plugin biz you generally get one chance.
Burn a client one and they’ll likely never come back…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] UpdraftPlus Email Subject NamesMay have just been a fluke.
The “daily” did/does include domain in subject, though the initial manual backup attempts did not and appeared like:
Backed up: (UpdraftPlus 1.7.20) 2013-10-14 11:35I’m likely mistaken, though in my installation once that message appeared the backup would not proceed further now matter what button I clicked.
If no one else mentions it then I guess “it’s just me.”
Thanks for the awesome pluging!

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] UpdraftPlus Email Subject NamesThe backup email subject I received was what I sent earlier.
Like:
Backed up: (UpdraftPlus 1.7.20) 2013-10-14 11:35So I’m thinking is a bug somewhere.
I actually like it, but it’s not presented as a feature, and I see no way to get past the message.
In other words, once that message appears your plugin becomes a proverbial “paper weight.”

In reply to: [Stealth Login Page] Why the change? 4.0I like the authorization code. It does solve other issues I’ve alluded too prior.
Food for thought.
I do think you should look at CAPTCHA which I “force” all of my client to install. With the new authorization code option, it seems to me your plugin and CAPTCHA might have sort of redundized each other?

I see no donation option within your plugin options page- get that done now!

In reply to: [Stealth Login Page] Password Protected PagesYes, this is one of the only real failings I’ve seen with this plugin.
I know not many people use password protected pages, so I imagine mine is not an urgent issue.
Just thinking outside the box here, but even a timer option which disables the stealth plugin between x and y hour would at least allow me to send a note to client stating, “you may access page X between 4 to 6pm today, yada yada.”
As it is now, if I wish for client to view my password protected page I have to manually deactivate plugin then remember to reactivate it later. Sort of annoying.
Yes, your site has indeed been compromised.
You’ll need to have someone log in via FTP or SSH and look at every file within your site, then remove the hacker scripts and text includes.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Author name HackedYour theme is well over 2 years old as well and no longer supported.
I recommend considering moving to currently supported theme. It’s very possible there might be some compromisable php scripting within that old theme.

In reply to: Author name HackedThat would certainty do it.
Replacement of your theme files from a virgin source would not be a bad idea as well.

Probably not a bad idea to change all passwords:
– all users in dashboard
– ftp accounts
– hosting company password
