@hlotvonen you ever find a work around for making this work with Advanced Custom fields ?
So you have to set some more options. If you want to see other users media you need to add the following caps.
edit_others_pages
edit_others_posts
edit_pages
edit_plugins
edit_posts
edit_private_pages
