In reply to: High CPU Load After Update to v4.3I’m on a reliable dedicated server, as I had mentioned earlier. One other person who commented here is also on a dedi.
I also use CloudFlare Pro, and contacted their tech to verify and make sure the traffic is still properly filtered through their CDN and content is served from their caches. There’s no change there.
Perhaps it would be a different matter if didn’t so obviously start after update to v4.3 with no other change done to the set up. This has also never happened before, so it’s not an old problem coming back.

In reply to: High CPU Load After Update to v4.3Is there a way to revert back to the previous version without losing new DB records? Something is definitely not right with this latest release.
I do have DB backups, but there’s been a lot of activity in the last 2 days since I updated WP, as I get on average one new comment every 2 minutes.
There were changes to the DB structure in the latest release, so I can’t just overwrite the files with the old ones. What can I do to revert to the previous version?

In reply to: 4.3 – Does It Allow New Members to Register with Bogus Emails? It used to be that when a new account was created, a password for that account was emailed to the newly registered email address. The person was not able to log in unless they got he email, because they didn’t know the password. It appears that this was now changed and the password is not emailed. If it’s not emailed, then how is the registration email confirmed?

In reply to: Ability to Give Comments Thumbs Up/Down and Sort by Top Rated?Similar type of deal as used on reddit – wouldn’t that make for a welcome upgrade to the core? It would be a highly visible and highly engaging new feature which I think is long overdue. The internet is about the public deciding what is popular and what is not. WordPress I think is missing out by not having it as an internal part of the system.
Hello Michael,
I use the default settings so the lockout is set for 1 hour and time within which failed logins are counted is 5 minutes. It would appear that this second lockout is permanent. It has not let him log in for 2 days again and still not letting him. I fear all other people using IPv6 are also locked out.
I’m not sure about debugging on the site. That may be a bit tricky.

In reply to: Author of Comment No Longer Displayed in Mobile Version of v3.8I just wanted to thank the developers for fixing the awful admin interface of 3.8 in the new release. Comment management was just plain hell on mobile devices. I’m grateful you have considered my concern, although censorship of my follow up comments on your part remains a sad display of online Nazism.

In reply to: Tweak for High Traffic Sites – Delete User Drop Down MenuThanks Sergey, although it looks like it’s talked about, but not taken care of. If it continues being talked about for additional 2 years with no solution presented, than tough luck for us who don’t use WP for splogs.
@mika, I can tell you my dedi box is not underpowered but it doesn’t matter how much power you have. Generation of a drop down menu with half a million records is plain and simple not gonna happen. If I were a developer, things like that would be a priority as generation of drop.down menus with no cap on number of records does not sound like good coding practise.
Hey Jerry, give that v3 some time to finalize it if you can 😉

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] What about performancePerformance has always been an issue with this plugin. The biggest resources waster in repository, quite possibly. I run a site with 300k uniques, 3+ Million pageviews a day, on a powerful dedicated server with lots of RAM and 4 SSD driver in RAID 10.
My MySQL connections and CPU usage are through the roof. Disabling the plugin brings them down significantly. The plugin is clearly programmed for splog users with little to no traffic, but many of them. Latest version is by far the greatest disaster, since it increased load even more and started creating thumbnails of each uploaded image but since I don’t run a splog, I have tens of thousands uploaded each month so the plugin hard core overloaded the system. It will take me a long time to undo it and recover from it. Definitely looking for an alternative.
Fingers crossed that v3 will come soon :o)
That sucks, I just checked other support threads for W3 – no support provided. Complex plugin without any support – may not have been the greatest idea messing with it?
Thanks Jerry,
really hoping you can get it done by then 😉
