Thank you for following up. This makes total sense, and is consistent with how I would have expected it to work. I just thought I would ask since my client was apperantly previously able to use the plugin this way. I think using the external Google Translate website for this particular case is a perfectly reasonable solution for them.
thank you for your prompt response!

In reply to: [PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry] Metaboxes not showing up on postsYes, we would like to only enable it for a custom user role that has been created on the website, as well as for Administrators. Ideally, I would like to be able to control it using Capabilities in WordPress, so that the meta boxes could show up based on user role, or on a per user basis. This way it could be enabled in a variety of different ways, either by code or by a plugin like User Role Editor. I think this would be a useful feature to add.
Thanks again

In reply to: [PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry] Metaboxes not showing up on postsThank you for your response. The User Role Editor plugin allows custom capabilities to be added, so if you were to add capabilities that can be called from code or from another plugin that could allow for more granular control of user access, that would be very helpful. They still may not show up in the plugin, but if they were added and then documented on your website, they could be utilized by this or other user role editing plugins.
Thank you again for taking the time to help with this issue.

In reply to: [PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry] Metaboxes not showing up on postsSorry if I wasn’t clear, but are there any user capabilities that can be enabled or disabled via an external plugin to allow for finer user role management control? For example, if we wanted Editors to be able to add podcasts, but not Authors.
I understand that the user role functionality isn’t included in the plugin beyond the option mentioned, but how would one go about utilizing this option? I couldn’t find anything in the documentation. It seems like that option, a long with adding some custom permissions to custom user roles (managed with a separate plugin like the one I linked in my previous post) might be able to accomplish something like this.
I hope this makes sense. Thank you again for following up.

In reply to: [PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry] Metaboxes not showing up on postsGood morning,
Thank you so much for following up. That solved the problem for now! Ideally, we would like to be able to restrict access to posting and editing podcasts by user role, are there specific user permissions we can add to User Role Editor?
I wasn’t able to find it in the documentation, but this would be super helpful if you could point me in the right direction.
Thank you,
Tommy
