we found the problem… we change the string in our templates to: data-rel=”lightbox-pp_gal”
Same Problem with 1.6.1
Now there are no navigation buttons with prettyPhoto. The images open, but only as a single image.

try to replace ” rel=”lightbox[gallery]” with ” data-rel=”lightbox[gallery]” on your templates
