Hi Bruna, and thank you for the prompt reply.
I think I have it figured out what was wrong: I was using if someone becomes a user as a Customer to try and send out a welcome email, but since no one was confirmed as subscribed the emails were not getting sent.
I switched it to sending the welcome email if they buy a specific product and that appears to be working — although I have only had 2 sales since making that change so I am not 100% sure yet.
As for version, I am using 3.81.0 and updated this morning to 3.82.0.
If you have any other suggestions for checking to make sure I am set up to run correctly I would appreciate them.

I appreciate your quick response. I was under a ton of pressure by my boss to get this fixed and I did… by rolling back the version of all in one seo I am using to 2.1.2. This fixed the descriptions immediately. It seems to me that the most current version of the plugin, 2.1.4, is not compatible with wp version 3.8 or 3.8.1.

To others viewing the thread: using all in one seo plugin version 2.1.4 issues with meta descriptions can be fixed by using version 2.1.2.
