Looks like the plugin
wordcentsis interfering. Try deactivating that and then connect Jetpack.Jetpack modules don’t actually start loading until after a connection is made. Since certain modules need a connection to WordPress.com to work correctly, that is how Jetpack was set up. That is likely why you don’t see an error until after the connection is made.
The best idea is to submit the debugging at the following link and also send a link to this thread:

Thanks 🙂
Jim, could you get in touch with us and include the URL to the site that is having issues? http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service
Thanks!
Also check that the permissions on the Jetpack files are set to allow the web server to read/execute them.
Check your WordPress install. In the root of the install, there should be a wp-comments-post.php file. Is there? If there is, check that it has permissions to be run by the web server. If there is not, download a new copy of WordPress from WordPress.org and upload that file.
Check your theme on the subsites. Some themes hide the Connect button. You’ll need to connect Jetpack on all sites in your network.
Stats is the main module that is sending data to WordPress.com servers.
Subscriptions does as well, in order to send emails.
Jetpack Comments sends a user’s comments to WordPress.com temporarily to do authorization (if a user logs in with Facebook/Twitter/WordPress.com accounts), but does not store any data.
Enhanced Distribution helps make your public posts and comments available to search engines, so some data is sent to WordPress.com to manage this.
I think that is it. If you have any other questions, please get in touch.
Yes, we do support these forums. We also have other support avenues available (http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service), as well as our development work, that keeps us busy. We check in as often as possible 🙂
Currently, this isn’t possible (if you mean the Jetpack Comments #respond h3). The comment form is loaded in an iFrame from the WordPress.com servers, so all of the CSS is from there. We are working on ways to make this iFrame more responsive to theme design/colors/etc.

Publicize is on our roadmap for Jetpack, though there isn’t a definitive launch date that I can share. We’d love to see it in Jetpack just as much as you (I have a self-hosted site that I’d love to have Publicize on!).
Keep an eye on jetpack.me/news for updates.
We are refreshing the Sharing module in Jetpack. No ETA yet, though Pinterest will be part of that refresh.
As far as I know, Twitter and Facebook both read any URL submitted to them and reset the URL to their own preference. Even if a wp.me link is submitted, it would be changed, in my experience.
We’ve discussed adding the “via” text but have settled with not adding it by default. The question comes up: should that be “via @the_blog_owner”? Or “via @the_person_sharing”? The answer is different for different users/blogs.
