Just to add, as a compromise, if there was any way to sort the posts within the category archive view by the other category, that would work for me.
For example for the June 2013 category archive view, I could manually set it so that the post order is defined by a set category order – based on the “Topic” category.

Thanks for getting back.
The problem is that each month the site has 50+ new posts and it would be extra work to set a passwords for each post (and then have to update all previous posts with new passwords each month). Also, would be fairly annoying for the readers to have to enter a password each time (articles are, in the main, very short).
