I used the WP Downgrade Plugin to switch back to 5.8.3 in the meantime.
Thanks so much, ma’am. I actually got it sorted within the day and it was exactly what you’d said. I had a plugin called tiled galleries without jetpack and somewhere down the line it added its own carousel option. Even turning that option off it didn’t stop the carousel. Deactivate delete for that one did the ticket.

I’d like to know this as well. I downloaded this to keep my image quality with tiled galleries (since Jetpack’s uses whatever servers to hosts and really compresses them.), but I’d like to be able to continue to use lightbox plus colorbox for my carousel as well.
