@hai3009, it’s very strange that none of the slideshows aren’t working with a WP default theme and no other plugins activated.
Is the only thing not working in your NextGEN installation? Or galleries aren’t working too? Can your report here your server info from “Overview”?
Also, a live link to the problem may help to help you, plugin’s author is always well supporting here in the forum or via private “bug report”, so I think that with more info and better investigation you could solve.@hai3009, You can have two different types of slideshows, jquery and flash slideshow, and you can display it in these ways:
In a sidebar with the slideshow widget or with a shortcode in a text widget if your theme support PHP code in widgets, and in a post/page with a shortcode or via “insert gallery window”.
For the error message, first check your general settings and look if you have activated “Try XHTML validation” and if so change to “no”. Otherwise you should try to deactivate all your other plugins with a WordPress default theme activated just to see if that makes it go away. In a basic situation it should works. Don’t forget to clear your cache, and also check if your browser is updated. If the error disappear, you can reactivate all your plugins one by one and theme until you find the culprit.
Another thing that might be important after a so-big update, it would be the reset of all old NextGEN settings (and maybe image cache) and the deletion of old slideshow widget – you don’t say if you have changed it or if you are trying with the new one.
You can try this in conjunction with the above basic test.
Here the documentation of NextGEN 2.0.@hai3009, imagerotator.swf is not necessary anymore. That file was necessary for slideshow in Rabe’s Nextgen legacy versions.
Now flash slideshow is integrated so you don’t need any external file.@cubmaster107, They are different.
At http://testing.iclodge.net/ there is a NextGEN slideshow, at http://iclodge.net/ there is another slideshow, not one of NextGEN.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Leaf] Title on Slider@ziom1994, the demo of this theme is no longer visible, so if you want some help you have to put a link to your page
@papa_steve, that folder is just what it looks, it’s for NextGEN featured images that you may choose for your posts/pages.
Use it or not is your choice, but if you don’t, it will be empty. In widgets panel there is an opportunity to add text or various html code widget but it looks like it doesn’t work.
@borro, text widget is a feature of WordPress itself, and it works with normal text or HTML as you said, not PHP.
To make it works with a (PHP) shortcode you have to apply what you can read at the link posted by @cais. The URL resolves correctly, try again.
(The first solution is good if you have a child theme, the second if you don’t want to change any theme, but this goes beyond NextGEN support.)
Alternatively, you can create a new page and put that shortcode to display all of your galleries, then from the sidebar you can link to that page.@jeffporper, I see that the question is concerning NextGEN Plus.
These forums are only for free plugins, so please refer to support page from login account.@wahming, a link to the page with the issue might help to help you
@borro, you can’t assign categories to NextGEN images, maybe you are talking about tags?
@jeffporper, a link to the issue would be useful. It is not clear if you are talking about the images opened in modal window.
In this case, you have to set “no” in “automatically resize images after upload” in Other options > Image options, and check if your client has set a particular/different size for resizing.@prostr, the “thumbs” folder contains the thumbnails of original images (=the same quantity), they don’t change in number or size and, from what I know, they are used only in backend.
@jgreen171, I have tried to reproduce the error installing and activating Mantra default theme, adding a gallery in two different posts, but everything works as expected.
Maybe you could test deactivating all other plugins but NextGEN to see if one of them is in conflict.@prostr They are used for “something”, actually the “dynamic” folder provides all the different sizes of the thumbnails shown on your pages, so every new set goes in that folder.
There you can delete only the images that you are sure that are no longer used (e.g., an early/old set of thumbnails not requested anymore).
If you delete the content of those folders you’ll miss all the thumbnails on your pages I guess, but anyway all of them would automatically re-created at the request of the page, in the size currently set.@jgreen171, can you share a link where this is happening?
