I just want to get rid of dynamic files and replace them with normal ones.
@michaldybczak, you can’t. I don’t understand what you mean by “normal”, but you can’t anyway, whatever you have in mind.
Were those photos somehow different from others?
There are 3 groups of images in NextGEN folders. The first contains the original images, “thumbs” is for the thumbs that you see in admin and “dynamic” is for the images/thumbnails that are seen in your gallery on your site, i.e. the images requested to display, i.e. the ones that visitors see. You can’t delete/rename none of them. All who use NextGEN have those plugin folders, not because you do or do not something particular.
Maybe if I edit them, give them a specific resolution they will be put in next upload in regular folder not dynamic one?
There is no folder less regular than another, each has its own function. I see now that this is a duplicated post: you have posted this same question few days ago. In the other topic you said you want to rename files one by one (?)… here you are talking about editing the resolution (?)… And all of this would be easier and faster than download a folder via FTP? It makes no sense.
Again, you can not edit them and the creation of folders/images it’s the same each upload, you can’t control it.
Here the three solutions:– Since the issue has to do with the tar format specification (not with NextGEN), use zip and you’ll have long file names and no issue in your backups.
– Look in your backup plugin’s options if you can exclude NextGEN folders from backup. Usually with that type of plugin you can choose what to backup. Then you can download those folders manually via FPT.
– Since the problem occurs in the backup plugin this is not a NextGEN issue, so please contact the backup plugin support.@michaldybczak In the dynamic folder there is every image that’s created on request (e.g., a new size of thumbnails), and they are displayed in your galleries as thumbnails.
You can’t delete the folder itself with all its content, you can delete the single “dynamic” images if you are sure that they are no longer used in the galleries, but this does not serve your current purpose.Still, why don’t you simply download manually once and for all via FTP your /gallery/ folder, or your /wp-content/ folder? Go grab a coffee and when you come back you find it on your desktop. If you download the whole wp-content maybe there is time even for a cigar, even if it hurts π
Seriously, usually the stuff in wp-content is not updated every day, but in this case you just need to manually download only the last folder. In any case, it is good practice to keep a local copy of what is uploaded on the server.@michaldybczak You can’t rid of dynamic folder as it is necessary for displaying your thumbnails.
And, frankly, I don’t understand why use a plugin to backup files on the server. Do you really need it?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Leaf] Show all Posts in main page@l4facc The slider shows the 5 most recent posts.
Under the slider, in categories section, you can find all the other posts, from the sixth to the oldest@RTDTV Your homepage slider is not of NextGEN.
It comes from your purchased theme, and these forums do not support commercial products.@twbeeson
Other options > image options > what’s the default sorting method > custom > Save
After that, you’ll see the “Sort gallery” button in your galleries management.@dead86 Check your settings with All in One SEO Pack plugin. In some pages you have the correct canonical URL, in other is missing.
Try also to deactivate AIO SEO plugin, just to check your pages source.
Then, ask to AIO support forum if you have an issue, NextGEN has nothing to do with the writing of the canonical URL.@lorraine.Evert As far as I know, reset general options doesn’t affect settings on a per page basis.
In other words, I believe that you’ll have to set up again only once the general menu options “Gallery Settings” and “Other Options”, because reset button brings them back to default.
But I understand your doubts and if you need to feel more confident, wait for Photocrati’s opinion: @cais responds daily to all questions and I think he will answer to this too.@lorraine.Evert Disabling plugins and current theme is the recommended troubleshooting when something “strange” happens, just to know if there’s a theme or a plugin conflict.
However, since you clearly say that recreating the gallery (i.e. probably using new settings) solves the issue, now I would be more inclined to think that you can solve once for all by resetting all the options.
Gallery > Other Options > Reset option.
Give it a try.@lorraine.Evert When I read your answer the issue you described was not visible in those first links you posted… I was not saying 200×200 was the problem, I was saying that the thumbnails in those links are both regularly cropped.
Now in this new link the issue you described is visible, and in your page source I see that you have selected the “cropping”.
Does the issue still occur if you disable all other plugins and set a WordPress default theme, after and/or before set a new gallery?@lorraine.Evert I don’t see any difference between the two thumbnails set. Images are all 200×200 and they are cropped, and in both cases original extended image is visible opening the lightbox.
Maybe in addition to the cleaning of NextGEN image cache you also need to clear your browser’s cache and, if you are running a cache plugin, site’s cache too.@denisekk Also Roles & Permissions section is missing.
Are you the administrator of the website?@lorraine.Evert Can you please post a live example from your site specifying what would you expect to see?
