Please disregard, I found another plugin solution that met my needs.
BTW, I did a test with a full WP URL and everything works as expected. It’s the short links that are causing the issue. But curiously, the Free version is able to correctly follow exactly the same short links and do the mapping correctly. And yes, short link follows are enabled. I even checked the database to be sure the option was set correctly.
